This two-hour workshop led by educator and natural dyer Lisa Rogers will cover the basics of natural dyeing. We will use dried botanicals and an insect (cochineal) to create a custom, bundle dyed silk bandanas. Each Team Member will receive a bandana Participants will have access to several natural dye materials to create one-of-a-kind designs Learn How to prepare different fabrics from scouring to mordanting How to modify colors with pH and iron An overview of natural dyes found in the kitchen, compost bin and available at stores Bundles will be steamed and make beautiful abstract patterns on silk bandanas Table and chairs for all participants Access to a power outlet, TV or screen for powerpoint An outlet to plug in our burner to steam pieces & water for our pot
